This will probably be the easiest and most efficient pizza dough recipe that you will ever make.
No stiff crust that are that are too crunchy with no give. What’s even better is that this pizza dough recipe is made from simple ingredients that you have laying around your house at any given time. Five ingredients to be exact. What gets better than that?
I’ve been working on this recipe for a little minute after perfecting my simplistic sourdough pizza crust recipe.
If you have a sourdough starter that you want to put to work I suggest you give that recipe a try. But if you don’t, that’s OK too because I have the recipe for you.
Introducing the perfect pizza dough recipe. Let’s get to it.
Ingredients for The Perfect Pizza Dough Recipe
- bread flour and all purpose flour: The combination of flours allows for a light and airy crust with the perfect balance of gluten content.
- warm water: Used to dissolve the sugar so the yeast can get to work.
- sugar: I used organic cane sugar in this recipe
- active dry yeast: This type of yeast yields the best result to me but, you can use instant yeast as well. Just adjust the water a little bit.
- kosher salt: I love kosher salt! It has a milder profile than regular table salt which is great for this recipe.
- oil for coating the bowl: I like to use grapeseed oil but, olive oil (cold pressed) will also work.
Tools for success
- Pizza stone
- Mixing bowl
- dough whisk
- dough scraper
- pizza shovel
How long will the perfect pizza dough recipe last
- In the refrigerator:
- The pizza dough will last about 4 days
- I would put the dough in a ziplock bag with as much air removed
- In the freezer
- The pizza dough will last in the freezer for around 3 months.
- Do the same thing as above by putting the dough in a freezer safe ziplock bag with as much air removed as possible.
- to thaw the dough
- thaw in the refrigerator overnight
- When you are ready to make the pizzas, take the dough out of the fridge and let come to room temp (about 30-45 minutes)
- The dough will be sticky so keep that in mind.
How to make the Perfect Pizza Dough
Gather all of the ingredients you will need.
Add warm water and sugar to large mixing bowl and stir until dissolved.
Now, pour in active dry yeast and stir. Let sit 10 minutes until frothy.
Go ahead and pour in flours and kosher salt. Mix together with dough whisk until just combined.

Pour oil of choice around perimeter of bowl and bowl pizza dough around to coat.
Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let rise for 45 minutes.

After 45 minutes, the pizza dough will have doubled in size and ready for the next step -> preparing the dough balls.
On a floured surface, scrape dough onto table. Coat in flour and shape to form a circle. Cut into 3 portions of roughly the same amount (You can also cut into 2 equal portions. It just depends on how many pizzas you want and how big you need them to be).

After forming the perfect pizza dough balls, let them rest for 10 minutes. During this time, a nice crust will form on the tops of the dough and the dough will rise a little bit more. This will be be perfect because when making the pizza right away, you can flip the dough over crust side down and stretch out the dough. This will also make it to where the crust doesn’t stick to the parchment paper (added bonus!).

Since, I wasn’t making my pizza right away… I put each dough ball in a ziplock bag and store in the fridge until I made it back home from running errands. You know, life stuff.
Time to Bake!
When I made it back, I took the pizza dough out of the fridge and let them come to room temp for 30 minutes. About 20 minutes in, preheat your oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit with the pizza stone in it.
Take the pizza dough out of the bag and place on floured parchment paper. The dough will be sticky so keep that in mind. After coating the dough in a little flour, stretch out the dough. Then, add sauce and toppings.
Put that bad boy in the oven with a pizza shovel for 10 minutes and what you will take out of the oven is a perfect pizza with a nice crust. Better than delivery for sure but you don’t just have to take my word for it. Try it out and you’ll see what I’m taking about!
