Let’s just start this blog post off by saying that I absolutely love brownies! The textures, rich and chocolatey. The varying add-ons you put in or on top of them to make them even better than before.
Maybe you like them to dazzle with sea salt and dark chocolate. What about a combination and dark and sweet chocolate? They versatility is appalling.
This rich sourdough brownies recipe will produce one of those desserts that will have you smiling and dancing as you enjoy them one bite after the other. OR maybe that is just me. I’ve been known to do a little shimmy when I’m enjoying something delicious. I might even add a shoe tap to go along with it.
The smell of freshly baked brownies throughout the house any time of the year is cause for nostalgia!

TOOLS NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- rubber spatula
- measuring cup
- measuring spoons
- mixing bowl
- ramekins
INGREDIENTS FOR SUPER RICH SOURDOUGH BROWNIES:
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
- 1/2 cup nonfed sourdough starter
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels (grated or chopped, I grated the chocolate)
- 2 oz bittersweet chocolate baking bar (I used 60% cacao)
- 3/4 cup evoo
- 1/4 cup maple sugar
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
HOW TO MAKE SUPER RICH SOURDOUGH BROWNIES:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Combine all of your dry ingredients together in a bowl and mix well
In a separate bowl, combine all of your wet ingredients together
Now, you are going to want to add your wet ingredients into your dry ingredients. The mixture will form together into a ball.
Fold the semi sweet chocolate morsels and shaved bittersweet chocolate into the mixture until combined. Transfer the mixture into a prepared dish. Make sure you spread the mixture out. I put mine in a 8 inch circular oven safe dish since that was what I had at the time. A 8×8 square baking dish is also a perfect choice.
Bake the sourdough brownies for 45 minutes and let cool before cutting it. I couldn’t wait so, it crumbled a little bit. Still extra delicious though!
